We are delighted you have chosen to consider one of the exciting roles we have on offer in our Senior Leadership team at Darlington Borough Council.

Darlington is a market town in the North East of England, with a population nearing 110,000. A town with a rich industrial heritage, in 1825 Darlington gave the world the passenger steam trains, and today we are a town that marries that heritage with a modern, vibrant and growing economy.

Located on the East Coast Mainline and being adjacent to the motorway network, Darlington is extremely accessible by both road and rail, making it an attractive place to live and work with access to rich countryside, the River Tees and the coast on the doorstep.

As set out in our Council Plan, our vision is for the borough to be one of the best places to live, work and invest in the UK, with a strong and sustainable economy, healthy thriving communities and opportunities for all. To achieve this vision the Council Plan is underpinned by three core principles – addressing inequalities, efficient and effective use of resources and tackling climate change.

Due to retirees, these four senior positions afford you a front seat at our leadership table, with you delivering key services and influencing the next part of Darlington’s story.

The roles are exciting and challenging in equal measure and will provide an opportunity to really make a difference to our town and people, supported by a strong and cohesive corporate leadership team and Elected Members who are passionate about delivering success for Darlington.
